The Chicago Tribune featured a front-page story on members of the Sereno family after they were awarded the NIU College of Liberal Arts and Sciences outstanding alumni award. All six siblings are college alumni. And all now have flourishing scholarly careers—from the oldest, Martin Sereno, director of the NeuroImaging Centre at University College London and Birkbeck College; to the youngest, Sara Sereno, a senior lecturer in psychology at the University of Glasgow, Scotland. “What we proved is that from Northern you can go anywhere,” says Paul Sereno, the second oldest of the siblings and now a University of Chicago professor and world-famous paleontologist.
