The NIU College of Engineering and Engineering Technology is becoming a leader in promoting careers in science, technology, engineering and technology to women and minorities. The college has created several camps aimed at middle school students, including becoming one of 30 universities nationwide chosen to play host to the ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp. The college has also developed relationships with dozens of high schools that serve primarily minority populations, working to make students at those schools aware of career opportunities in engineering.
