Mike Denning, a 2002 alum of the NIU College of Law, has been named to the Law Bulletin Publishing Company’s list of the 40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty who are “up and comers” in Illinois.

Denning is a partner in Heyl Royster’s Rockford office.

“Those who have witnessed Denning in action,” the Law Bulletin profile on Denning states, “consider him a nonstop worker with a high level of skill and integrity.”

Robert H. Shultz, Jr., vice president and counsel for State Farm Mutual Automobile Co., who worked with Denning in the representation of a component manufacturer that was repeatedly sued in Madison and Cook counties, told the Law Bulletin that Denning “managed the client relationship with great skill, largely based upon the superior results he obtained for it in these two challenging jurisdictions.”

William Ranard of Cassidy Schade praised Denning’s “wonderful command of the courtroom” while Timothy Leake of Hinshaw & Culbertson called Denning a “natural leader.”

The Law Bulletin’s staff conducts an annual survey to determine the leading Illinois attorneys who are younger than 40 and on a fast track professionally. The list of 40 attorneys was selected from more than 1,350 nominations.
