Spring has arrived! It’s time to pick up a new book to enjoy outside on a balmy afternoon and stock up for summer reading.
Northern Illinois University Press is holding a “carry-out” book sale featuring nearly 200 titles at drastically reduced prices. The sale is open to the public, and the majority of books, both hardback and paperback, are priced at $2, $3 or $5.
These titles also make unique Mother’s and Father’s Day gifts.
A complete list of sale titles and prices is online as is an order form. Look through the list to see what interests you, then place your order by filling out the form and sending it to NIUPmarketing@niu.edu.
Orders must be received by Wednesday, April 20.
Books can be paid for and picked up at the press office, located at 2280 Bethany Road in DeKalb (at the corner of Bethany Road and Route 23). Pick-up will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 23, and from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 26. Plan to pay with a check made out to NIU Press or cash; debit and credit cards will not be accepted.
Books in several subject areas will be available at sale prices.
Young children and their parents will be excited about the new Stuffed Bunny Science Adventure Series, published in partnership with the NIU P-20 Center. The eight-book series incorporates STEM concepts in fun adventure stories. The first book in the series, “The Toy and the Twister,” is available at a sale price of $14.
History enthusiasts will find much of interest, including titles on U.S. history, Russian studies and European history. Novels and short story collections from the press’s fiction imprint, Switchgrass Books, also will be on sale.
Several other titles in these and additional subject areas, including sports, transportation, philosophy, politics, regional studies and religion, will be available. Orders will be filled in the order they are received, and quantities are limited.
