Eric Weldy, vice president for the Division of Student Affairs & Enrollment Management, has announced the hiring of two new directors: Andrew Digate, director of Health Services; and Daniel Koenen, executive director of Campus Dining Services.

Digate, who began his new position June 27, brings a wealth of experience gained during his nearly 20-year tenure in managed health care.

He was responsible for practice development and operations as Regional Manager at Concentra, as manager of Business Development at Orthosport, and as business development manager for Ambulatory Services at Loyola University Health System.

After a period of consulting, Digate served as an operations manager at Dreyer Medical Clinc/Advocate Healthcare, and most recently served as the practice director at Castle Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine.

He is also actively engaged within his profession: He is currently serving as vice president of the Illinois Chapter of the Medical Group Management Association, and has attended numerous national meetings and conferences.

Koenen began as executive director of Campus Dining Services July 1. He has 25 years of experience in college food service, most recently as a district manager with Sodexo Campus Services.

Working with colleges and universities in Illinois and Wisconsin, Koenen has demonstrated success in development and fiscal management of residential dining, retail operations, and conference services, including catering.

He understands the importance of collaboration and teamwork and has extensive experience working with university leadership to create a vision for campus dining. He is also a strong advocate for student development, working to create meaningful employment and internship opportunities at each institution he has served.

Koenen’s knowledge of market trends and best and next practices in the profession, as well as his commitment to providing an outstanding dining experience for our students and the greater community, will be instrumental as we re-vision Campus Dining Services at NIU.
