“In receiving this award, PCNA’s acknowledgement of my efforts means the most,” Moxley said. “I greatly value and respect the organization and their mission to improve the quality of life and outcomes of patients, especially cardiovascular health.”

The Preventive Cardiovascular Nurses Association is dedicated to preventing and managing cardiovascular disease. Their members are nurses and nurse practitioners who assess risk, facilitate lifestyle changes, and guide individuals to achieve treatment goals at clinics, hospitals and universities across the country.
“PCNA promotes and educates professionals as well as the community to maintain and improve not only cardiovascular health, but general health and well-being,” Moxley said. “They offer this support through various means and opportunities, especially through collaboration, which is key for improving nursing practice and subsequent patient outcomes.”

Moxley said it’s especially meaningful to receive the fellowship as it indicates a standard by which PCNA recognizes her contribution to the organization.

“As a researcher who is interested in the benefits of physical activity and exercise, PCNA supports my interests and does this through various means,” Moxley said. “As a practitioner in the nursing profession, PCNA is a valuable organization especially when considering the current magnitude of cardiovascular morbidity that exists.”

Moxley and the other fellows will be recognized at the organization’s annual Cardiovascular Nursing Symposium set for March 2022 in Las Vegas.
