NIU Physics Professor Zhili Xiao
NIU Physics Professor Zhili Xiao has accepted an invitation to serve as co-editor for the international physics journal, Europhysics Letters (EPL).
Serving all areas of physics and its related fields, EPL publishes the highest quality research from around the world, and provides authors with fast, fair and constructive peer review thanks to an Editorial Board of active scientists, who are experts in their respective fields. Xiao was considered an ideal candidate for co-editor because of his expertise in mesoscopic superconductors, nanomaterials and topological quantum materials.
The three-year appointment begins April 1 and comes on the heels of two impressive publications by Xiao, one in Nature Communications and the other in Physical Review X (PRX), both considered high impact journals. The PRX research solves long-standing mysteries related to electrical resistance in high temperature superconductors.
Xiao has been highly decorated at NIU for his research, scholarship and teaching. He is a past recipient of the Presidential Research, Scholarship and Artistry Professorship (2010) and Board of Trustees Professorship (2013). The BOT Professorship is the top university honor reserved for faculty members who demonstrate excellence in all facets of teaching, service, leadership and research or artistry.
