Renee Page

Renee Page is known as an important advisor, problem solver, imaginative thinker and integral part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) team. With nearly three decades of service to the university, the administrative assistant to the dean is a trusted resource for faculty, staff and students in college and a deserving recipient of the 2024 Board of Trustees (BOT) award.

“Renee Page is one of the most outstanding staff members I have ever been lucky enough to work with throughout my career,” said CLAS Dean Bob Brinkmann. “She is truly an exemplary Huskie who has dedicated her professional career to this institution.”

Brinkmann said that Page has an institutional memory that few have, and whatever she takes on, she does so with great care and heart.

“Renee is an NIU treasure and I am so grateful to work with her,” Brinkmann said. “She is truly deserving of the Board of Trustees Staff Award.”

Whether working on initiatives that involve students, faculty, staff or campus partners, Renee’s collaborative nature encourages a sense of community and makes an impact.

“Renee has always been a big booster of NIU and there is an abundance of evidence for her impact,” Brinkmann said. “The work she has done with others in support of NIU’s Homecoming activities – especially to build the college’s events around Mission’s Grove – is nothing short of extraordinary.”

Along with her tireless Huskie pride, Page’s vast experience and proven skillset are reasons why campus administrators reach out when they have questions.

“The relationships she has built in the college and across the university have made her known throughout the campus as an excellent resource,” said Liz Wright, executive assistant in the Office of the President. “I don’t know one colleague in the administrative profession who wouldn’t call her to get information on how to approach their work or relationships on campus.”

In addition, Wright said that Page has been a trusted support to each of the deans she has served throughout her career.

“Renee not only believes in NIU’s vision, mission, and values, but she lives this in her day-to-day service,” Wright said. “She is invested in ensuring the success of the university and individuals. I have witnessed her leadership in the executive support team group – not only sharing ideas and resources – but being willing to take the lead.”

Page said she is honored to be recognized with the BOT Staff Award and is grateful to be a Huskie.

“To be recognized at this level isn’t something I ever dreamed possible,” Page said. “I’ve worked with many tremendous people in my 30 years at NIU, and I attribute my career success to their support and confidence in me. CLAS has a really amazing team, and it’s truly a pleasure to work with them as we support our students and faculty.

Page will receive a $5,000 stipend and be recognized at the annual staff awards celebration on April 25.
